From May 8 to 17, 2026, the traditional Bread Festival returns to the square in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. For ten days, artisan bakers will set up shop in the heart of the Île de la Cité to celebrate one of the strongest symbols of French gastronomy.
The traditional Bread Festival will return to the square in front of Notre-Dame
Organized each year around Saint-Honoré, patron saint of bakers, the Bread Festival allows the public to discover the behind-the-scenes of the profession. On site, a temporary bakery is set up opposite the cathedral, where visitors can watch bread being made live, from kneading to baking, and talk to passionate professionals. Demonstrations throughout the day make the craft accessible to all.
The program also includes educational workshops for children and adults, as well as opportunities to discuss different types of flour, sourdough, and fermentation methods. The goal is simple: to highlight the work of artisans and teach the basics of a product that is part of everyday life in France.
During these ten days, the public can also buy and taste traditional breads, baguettes, regional specialties, and pastries. Some recipes will even be prepared on site in the oven installed for the event. It’s an opportunity to taste a variety of creations while enjoying a unique setting, facing one of the most visited monuments in Europe.
Held in the spring on the square in front of the cathedral, the 2026 Bread Festival promises to be a popular and gourmet event. Combining architectural and culinary heritage, the event celebrates a simple product that brings together all generations. It is a must-see for lovers of good bread and for those who are just passing through the center of Paris.
