The cordon bleu is now available in several formats throughout the capital. From a version designed to be devoured on the street to bistro plates generously smothered in sauce, three spots stand out as the best places to enjoy this cheesy, crispy specialty.
Street Food at Amoné
For a quick bite on the go, Amoné offers a cordon bleu redesigned to be eaten while walking. The dish has a long, easy-to-handle shape, while still containing a particularly stringy cheese center. Although several recipes are on the menu, the classic version stands out as the benchmark. The cordon bleu is sold for 10 euros on its own, while a 14-euro set meal allows you to pair it with, for example, potato balls.
The title of “Best in Paris”: Chez Margaux and Gratin
In a different setting, Chez Margaux serves the famous cordon bleu voted the best in the city. The dish features a light breadcrumb coating and ultra-melty cheese. It’s served on a bed of dark sauce and generously sprinkled with grated cheese, for a price of 26 euros.
Just a few steps from the Louvre, the restaurant Gratin offers a similar dish. The restaurant, which features a terrace with red umbrellas, serves the same cordon bleu as Chez Margaux, smothered in the same sauce. The identical recipe is easily explained: both restaurants belong to the same group.
