Paris is magnificent! But its islands along the Seine and Marne rivers are absolutely fabulous and are the perfect place to unwind for a weekend. Forget the Île de la Cité, Île aux Cygnes, and Île Saint-Louis, which you probably know by heart and which are among the most famous and touristy in the capital. Some of the islands located close to the capital have even inspired great artists such as Monet and Van Gogh! Here are our favorites to visit to recharge your batteries.
Île de la Jatte

This magnificent island, halfway between Neuilly-sur-Seine and Levallois-Perret, is a paradise on earth for all lovers of running and nature. People go there to run, walk with their children, and walk their dogs in the park’s huge dog park. This magnificent island even inspired the greatest Impressionist artists, such as Claude Monet, Sisley, and Van Gogh, who enjoyed painting it in both summer and winter. A magnificent place to discover on the outskirts of Paris.

The island of Puteaux

Flower lovers, especially those who love roses, know this place by heart.Île de Puteaux is home to Parc Lebaudy. A particularly bucolic spot in spring, where you can admire a sublime rose garden with over 200 varieties in a French-style landscape… A romantic place that is a must-see in the warmer months.

The Island of the Impressionists

A few stops from Paris, in the very chic town of Chatou, don’t miss the superb Île aux Impressionnistes, beloved by artists such as Degas, Monet, and Renoir. You’ll discover one of the oldest guinguettes in Paris, which even inspired Renoir for his famous painting “Déjeuner des canottiers.” Acharming place near Paris.

Île Charantonneau
Not far from Maison-Alford lies a little haven of paradise along the Marne: Île Charentonneau. Connected by two bridges, this island, less than a kilometer long, is uninhabited. Every weekend, it is one of the most popular spots for jogging in the countryside, offering a refreshing view of the surrounding area throughout the seasons!

Fanac Island
In a preserved green setting, take a kayak trip along the Marne and take the time to admire the magnificent residences… Here, the inhabitants live without cars! The area is therefore completely peaceful all year round. To access the island, take the stairs at the Joinville bridge, accessible via the RER A. It’ s an adventure that’s well worth the effort, believe us.
