When temperatures rise, many residents of the Paris region look for a simple way to get away without leaving the area. And every summer, one spot naturally comes up in conversation: Lake Jablines-Annet, in Seine-et-Marne. About 40 minutes from Paris, this vast recreational center offers beaches, swimming, and wide-open spaces, with a setting that stands in stark contrast to the Parisian concrete jungle.
A water paradise with a thousand activities
Far from the hustle and bustle of Paris, here we are surrounded by water, sand, and trees. The Jablines-Annet Leisure Island covers nearly 500 hectares, a large portion of which consists of bodies of water, in the heart of a natural environment designated as a Natura 2000 site. A setting that is quite rare so close to the capital.
The site is best known for its two white-sand beaches, among the most popular in the Île-de-France region. The designated swimming area stretches over 400 meters, with water consistently praised for its quality. Swimming is supervised on the North and South beaches during the summer season, generally between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., depending on the opening hours.
Even on very sunny days, the site allows you to relax on the sand or in the grass without the stifling feeling sometimes found elsewhere. Some come to sunbathe, others to picnic, read, walk, or simply enjoy a quiet afternoon by the water.

For those who love to be active, the lake offers much more than just a beach. Stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, pedal boats, sailing, water skiing, and even an equestrian center are among the activities available on-site. Several trails also allow you to stroll around the lakes or bike through lush green surroundings.
Another significant advantage: access is relatively easy from Paris. By car, it takes about 40 minutes depending on traffic. By public transit, you can reach the site via the P line or the RER A, then take local buses from Esbly, Lagny-Thorigny, or Chessy/Marne-la-Vallée.
A beach, water, open space, and a vacation vibe just a few kilometers from Paris. The kind of spot that’s definitely worth a detour on a sunny weekend.
