When we think of the beach, we often imagine the sea or the ocean… but there’s a refreshing address much closer to the capital. Located in Valenton, in the Val-de-Marne, Plage Bleue is a landscaped stretch of water offering a breath of fresh air less than an hour from Paris. Perfect for those who dream of warm sand and relaxation without having to travel miles.
A hidden beach and 40 hectares of greenery just a stone’s throw from Paris
After introducing you to the Buthiers leisure island, the Commelles ponds and the Ile de la Jatte, here’s another refreshing spot! Easily accessible from Paris, the Parc départemental de la Plage Bleue is a great idea for a summer weekend outing.

The site, nestled in a vast natural area, is popular with regular visitors but relatively unknown to Parisians. There’s a wide sandy beach bordered by a lake, and shaded areas for shelter in midsummer. The area is ideal for both swimming and relaxing, with lawns perfect for waterside picnics.
Plage Bleue isn’t just a spot for sunbathing: it’s also a leisure area for the whole family. There’s skateboarding, pétanque, BMX and fishing. Although swimming in the lake is not permitted, a number of water games have been set up all around the lake to keep you cool. The little extra? The park boasts a book box, perfect for a moment’s reading in the sunshine.
