“Over 45°C,” “A fierce return of the heat wave after a lull”… For several days now, a rumor has been circulating on social media: that the heat wave will return with a vengeance the week of July 6… But according to weather experts, this information should be taken with a grain of salt. While it’s true that the week of June 29 will be milder, temperatures will indeed rise starting July 6… But not in the way you might think!
A more intense heat wave in Paris in July? Not so sure!
According to the two most widely used weather models, there will indeed be a high-pressure system over our country in early July. This system is expected to bring very hot air up from the south and could begin as early as July 6, or even last until the 14th.
But be wary of overly alarmist predictions currently circulating all over the internet. Fornow, meteorologists estimate that while the weather will indeed be dry and hot, it’s very difficult to determine its exact intensity. Note that forecasts beyond seven days are highly uncertain, with reliability dropping to 75% and falling sharply below 50% beyond 10 days.

According to experts at Météo-Paris, extreme scenarios have less than a 5% chance of occurring, so they should be taken with a grain of salt. They state that “a deviation from normal of +3 to +5°C is expected from southwestern to central-eastern France” during the week of July 6–12 (compared to +10°C during the week of June 22–28).
Let’s hope that by then, the information will be clearer and confirm a trend that, while certainly on the rise, will be much more bearable for the French.
