Viva la musique ! So says the anthem created especially for the Disney Music Festival at Disneyland Paris. And it’s true that for the past few days, music has been reigning supreme in the parks, bringing a breath of fresh air to Marne-la-Vallée. At Paris Secret, we were lucky enough to take part in the celebrations for Disneyland Paris’ very first music festival… and we tell you all about this simply exceptional event!
The magic of Disney is (re)lived in music!
Imagine Miguel and his merry band of Mariachis bursting onto the scene, or Rapunzel and Flynn taking to the dance floor at the bend in the aisle… That dream is now a reality, thanks to the Disney Music Festival, which is coming to enchant every Landscape at Disneyland Paris. Over the past few days, a new wave of enchantment has swept through the park, much to the delight of visitors. And the good news is that all this musical entertainment is included in the price of admission. No extra charge, just an extra dose of magic! But what exactly is the Disney Music Festival? Conceived as a major inter-generational gathering, the essence of this event is to celebrate the cult melodies of the Disney and Pixar universes. The aim? To bring together young and old for unforgettable musical moments. As Guillaume Coignard, Music Manager at Disneyland Paris, assures us: “You’ll rediscover these iconic songs like you’ve never heard them before.
Live concerts and unique musical encounters
For the occasion, Disneyland Paris has pulled out all the stops. Throughout the day, Disneyland addicts can enjoy colorful shows performed several times a day, new entertainment and unforgettable musical encounters. For the first time, Minnie dons the costume of bandleader and leads the dance, in a colorful musical parade. Ultra-stylish in her acidic poom-poom shorts adorned with a treble clef, she leads a troupe of 12 musicians, who reinterpret the great Disney classics with panache, from “Hakuna Matata” (The Lion King) to “Dans un autre monde” (The Snow Queen). For his part, Mickey welcomes visitors morning and night from Main Street Station, faithfully at his post beneath the mythical clock.
In Adventureland, Vaiana makes a grand entrance. Accompanied by two percussionists and a ukulele player, she makes the park vibrate to the bewitching rhythms of the Pacific islands. For the more nostalgic, Timon and Pumba lead the audience in their “Matadance”, a playful choreography for learning the “Sans Souci Philosophie” dance with the whole family. And that’s not all: in the Videopolis Theater, a pop-rock concert electrifies the atmosphere. Talented singers revisit Disney hits, before Tic and Tac take control of the turntables. Daft Punk-style, they set the stage ablaze with an over-the-top version of Cinderella’s “Tendre Rêve“, entertaining and seducing the entire audience.
Party, emotions and nostalgia… The Disney Music Festival is all these things at once.
But which is the best musical encounter at the Disneyland Music Festival? It’s hard to say. Even the celebrities who came to celebrate the opening – from Joyce Jonathan to Eddy de Pretto, not forgetting Philippe Lacheau, Virginie Efira and Niels Schneider – had a hard time choosing. Here at Paris Secret, we fell in love with Miguel’s “Fiesta Latina”, a vibrant show performed five times a day. Accompanied by dancers in flamboyant costumes and a group of Mariachis, Miguel revives Coco ‘s cult songs and energetically revisits the classic “Viva la musique”, all in an atmosphere of good humor. And for actress Élodie Fontan, the verdict is clear: “I really fell in love with the show Le Final du Grand Orchestre. The songs brought back so many good memories.”
It’s hard to imagine a better conclusion: the final orchestra brings the day to a close in style, covering all the highlights of the festival. In the middle of Central Plaza, Vaiana, Minnie, Dingo, Rapunzel, the Mariachis, Miguel, the percussionists and many others come together for a final bouquet. Carried along by the rousing “Viva la Musique” and the great Disney classics, we end the day with a smile on our faces and stars in our eyes.
Yes, the Disney Music Festival is a concentrate of emotions: a touch of nostalgia, good humor and an immediate return to childhood. And to round off this enchanted interlude, the new Disney Tales of Magic night show brings the best Disney and Pixar stories to life above the illuminated castle.
