Steps in the Chocolate Cake with Pouring Heart recipe
For the ganache :
- Heat the cream in the microwave for 15 seconds, then mix with the cut-out chocolate. Set aside in ice-cube moulds for at least 4 hours.
For the cake:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C fan-assisted.
- Melt the butter and chocolate in the microwave for at least 30 seconds until smooth.
- Beat the sugar and egg until frothy, then pour the chocolate into the mixture. Add the flour a little at a time, then stir until a smooth dough forms.
- Butter and flour a heart-shaped silicone mold to prevent sticking during baking.
- Pour a third of the mixture into the mold, then place the “icicle” ganache in the center before covering with a little batter. The idea is not to fill the cake to the brim, as baking may cause it to rise and distort its pretty heart shape.
- Bake your coulants at half-height for 10 minutes.
- Wait 5 minutes before unmolding your cakes.
- Optional: Decorate your cake with a few red berries and a little powdered sugar.
Serve this fondant cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and why not a glass of champagne? If that doesn’t convince your other half, we don’t know what else to do, except suggest you buy some chocolates to make up for it!
