It is one of the most festive events of the Parisian summer, and the date has just been announced: the Paris Tropical Carnival will make its grand return on Sunday, July 5, 2026, on the Champs-Élysées, for another colorful edition. For several hours, the capital’s most famous avenue will be transformed into a massive open-air dance floor, featuring floats, marching bands, Caribbean rhythms, and spectacular costumes.
The date for Paris’s biggest summer carnival has just been announced,
Organized by the City of Paris in partnership with the Federation of Tropical Carnival, this festive event celebrates the cultures of the French Overseas Territories, the Caribbean, Latin America, and other regions of the world through music, dance, and carnival traditions. It is this blend of atmospheres that has made it a success for over twenty years.

For the 2026 edition, the parade is scheduled from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with free admission. Thousands of dancers, musicians, and participants are expected along the route. Based on previous editions, more than 4,000 carnival-goers may parade through the streets of Paris, accompanied by floats and groups from all over France and abroad.
The planned route is expected to follow the familiar format: starting near Place de la Concorde, proceeding up the Champs-Élysées to the George V area, and ending on Avenue Winston Churchill between the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais. It is generally at this location that the groups perform before the jury to compete for the carnival’s various artistic prizes.
The 2025 edition left a lasting impression with a theme centered on the Amazon and the Brazil-France cultural season. For 2026, the official theme has not yet been revealed, but organizers are expected to announce the full program in the coming weeks.

Known for its unique atmosphere, the Paris Tropical Carnival is unlike any other. Here, percussion beats echo, dancers get the crowd moving, costumes catch everyone’s eye, and the festive spirit spreads throughout the avenue. Even casual passersby often find themselves swept up in the celebration.
The event is also one of the best free things to do in Paris this summer. Right at the start of the summer season, it offers a truly festive break in the heart of the capital, with no tickets or reservations required. Just arrive a little early to find a good spot along the route.
On July 5, 2026, Paris will once again take on the atmosphere of a giant carnival. And as every year, the Champs-Élysées is expected to fill up very quickly to witness one of the capital’s most joyful parades !
