The idea had received the support of the Mairie de Paris and then that of Emmanuel Macron. It’s now official: the final stage of the Tour de France 2025 will pass through rue Lepic and the Butte Montmartre, before the traditional finish on the Champs-Élysées.
Butte Montmartre to host final stage of Tour de France 2025
Last year, due to the Olympic Games, the Tour de France did not finish in Paris, but in Nice, as part of an exceptional edition. Nevertheless, Parisians were still able to see and support riders in the streets of the capital and Montmartre, as the Olympic road cycling event had passed through on August 3, 2024. Building on its success, this stage seems to have inspired ASO, the organizing company of the Tour de France, for the 2025 edition.
Indeed, for the 21st and final stage of the next Tour de France, the riders will pass through the picturesque rue Lepic, for a triple ascent in the heart of the Butte Montmartre, before descending the rue Royale and winding their way along the most beautiful avenue in the world for a spectacular finish.
A stage which promises to be magnificent, but which almost didn’t see the light of day. The request was initially refused by the Prefect of Paris, for fear of crowds gathering around the course. It took the intervention of the Mairie de Paris and the President of the Republic to allow the event to go ahead.
