Your beloved teddy bear, the one who never left your side as a child, finds himself at the heart of an exhibition. Collectors’ items, interactive installations and artistic creations… Discover Mon ours en peluche at MAD from December 4!
The teddy bear, children’s favorite toy, comes to the museum
It’s the star of children’ s lives, the toy that rarely leaves their side, both comforting and companion for all adventures, and now it’s been honored with an exhibition at a major Paris museum! The teddy bear is about to make its debut at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which is dedicating an exhibition to it, Mon ours en peluche. It’s an opportunity to find out a little more about the history and evolution of this everyday object, loved from generation to generation!
My teddy bear, from yesterday to today
From December 4 onwards, the teddy bear will be taking a trip out of children’s bedrooms and into MAD’s showcases. For the occasion, the institution is exhibiting some 130 teddy bears from its own collections.
These specimens will add a little history to the lives of our teddy bears.
Do the bears of children who grew up in the 2000s resemble those of children in the 50s? And for that matter, how long have these bears been around? These are just some of the questions MAD will be seeking to answer!
As well as providing an historical overview of the object itself, the exhibition also looks at the earliest representations of the bear as an animal. It will also look at the teddy bear’s place in society and popular culture! Cinema, fashion, children’s literature, contemporary art…. creations by Annette Messager, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Issey Miyake or Jeremy Scott! In turn star of the 7th art, cuddly object, fashion icon, the modern-day teddy bear can also be transformed into a defender of the planet thanks to committed brands!
