This long (very long) month of January is almost over, and it has been quite a ride! We had a few snowflakes over several days, then a very pleasant thaw that almost made us forget that winter was still here. And yet, according to meteorologists, the cold could well make a comeback in February… Let us explain.
A period of intense cold could return with a vengeance in February
If you were hoping to spend Valentine’s Day without having to break out your heavy coat, you may need to reconsider your plans… Although the jet stream coming in from the Atlantic has been warming things up for the past few days and is expected to continue for another week, an icy wind blowing across Eastern Europe, particularly Germany , could well influence the weather.

The intense cold coming from our European neighbors, marked by heavy snowfall, could well gain ground in the far northeast of France by mid-February. This theory is supported by experts at Météo-Paris, who explain that a cold front could escape from the Léonie low-pressure system currently affecting Germany. This would cause temperatures to drop for a few days, with lows of -8°C in the morning. While this scenario is certainly possible, current trends suggest that it is unlikely. So stay alert and continue to wear a warm coat when you go out!
