This spring, the RATP surprised users by announcing the creation of its own 100% electric airline. Presented as a logical extension of its mobility services, the project involves direct flights between Paris and several European destinations, using aircraft powered entirely by electricity.
Named AIRATP, the new airline will offer flights departing from the Île-de-France region, with a concept inspired by everyday public transportation. Passengers will be able to board using their Navigo pass, while the aircraft will be designed as an extension of the Île-de-France network. The idea is to quickly connect several European capitals while reducing the carbon footprint.

The campaign, launched with posters in the metro, highlights quiet aircraft powered by electric propulsion and featuring a design reminiscent of the RATP’s visual identity. We can thus look forward to planes in the network’s colors, with a promise of short and accessible trips.
In the spirit of the metro, RATP will adopt familiar user habits, with audio announcements inspired by the metro and recognizable signage. The project is part of a sustainable mobility strategy, presented as the next step following the electrification of buses and the expansion of the tram network.

According to initial reports, several European destinations are being considered for the launch, with short routes designed as natural extensions of the Île-de-France network. Passengers will thus be able to reach various capitals in just a few hours, with an experience designed to remain simple and accessible.
With this project, RATP appears to be taking a new step forward in its vision of mobility, envisioning ever-smoother transitions between urban transit and international connections. This announcement is sure to spark a reaction from users, who are curious to see just how far the company plans to push the transportation experience… all the way into the skies.
