Who doesn’t know Pokémon? This star card game of the 90s has accompanied thousands of fans around the world, thanks to its video games, anime, and cult and endearing characters such as Pikachu. This year, the famous Japanese franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary. And to mark the occasion, the Musée de l’Herbe invites you to an unofficial exhibitionin tribute to young and old alike: “Admire them all”!
The Pokémon tribute exhibition at the Musée de l’Herbe
Starting April 16, the Musée de l’Herbe invites you into its space-time cabin: destination Japan in the 1990s. It was during this period that Satoshi Tajiri imagined the very first Pokémon cards. You will discover the origins of these strange creatures, inspired by nature but also by Japanese mythological creatures (yōkai), and Satoshi’s entire creative process through preparatory drawings for the cartoon, booster packs, and vintage goodies.

Young and old alike can discover or rediscover the first Pokémon games thanks to huge Game Boys installed in the museum. The exhibition will also highlight the importance of art through the illustrators of Pokémon cards, who had fun reinterpreting paintings by Mucha and Van Gogh in their creations… Visitors will also understand the impact of this pop culture phenomenon, which continues to inspire contemporary artists today, 30 years after its creation. Daniel Arsham, Katherine Bernhardt, Brusk, Hervé Di Rosa, and many others have fun staging these mischievous characters and offering a new artistic evolution to the Pokémon universe.
A fun, intergenerational exhibition to discover with your loved ones starting April 16!
