There’s always a line somewhere in Paris. For a restaurant, a shop, or a museum. While we love to feel the pulse of the city through its major events, we love even more the satisfaction of discovering an experience that is just as powerful, but far from the crowds. Right now, two artistic offerings provide just that perfect contrast at the Grand Palais.
Mickalene Thomas and her ode to women
An explosion of colors, textures, and light. That’s the promise kept by American artist Mickalene Thomas’s exhibition “All About Love. “ Less publicized, this retrospective is a true visual and emotional shock. The artist explores love, beauty, and the identity of black women through bold, large-format works. Her paintings, bursting with life, are the result of a unique blend of painting, collage, and rhinestone inlays. They literally shine. Every detail sparkles and catches the eye, creating a striking depth.

The visit is enjoyable, even on busy days. You have time to immerse yourself in each universe, to get up close to admire the complexity of the textures and to step back to grasp the power of each composition. It is an immersive experience full of joy and affirmation, and an ideal opportunity to discover a major artist on the contemporary scene. The exhibition ends on April 5, so don’t delay!
Artistic dialogue: Eva Jospin & Claire Tabouret
Make no mistake: the other major exhibition of the moment is just a few steps away. Installed on the other side of the Grand Palais, Eva Jospin immerses us in her dreamlike world, where her landscapes are made entirely of… cardboard. These are huge, incredibly precise works that you can interact with!

On the other side, the space opens onto the luminous works imagined by Claire Tabouret. The artist presents models of the project to create new stained glass windows for Notre-Dame Cathedralin Paris. It’s a rare glimpse into a project steeped in history and art, where you can admire the work that will soon illuminate one of the world’s most famous monuments. The two exhibitions complement each other and are definitely worth a look! But be warned, this double exhibition ends on March 29.
