As the 2024 cultural year quietly draws to a close, we’re already setting our sights on 2025, a year that promises to be full of surprises both at the heart of Parisian institutions and in more intimate museums and galleries. And as for the Atelier des Lumières, a must-see spot revolving around immersive experiences, we’ve been given a sneak preview of what’s in store for next year, with superb exhibitions dedicated to Picasso and the Douanier Rousseau .
Picasso and Douanier Rousseau: the big names in Atelier des Lumières’ 2025 program
A resounding success since its inauguration, the Atelier des Lumières has once again delivered a high-quality season, with outstanding exhibitions on the Egypt of the Pharaohs and Asterix & Obelix. Today, we turn our attention to 2025, with two eagerly-awaited events dedicated to Picasso and the Douanier Rousseau.
As is often the case, there will be a slight distinction between these two themes: Picasso will be offered as a long program and Douanier Rousseau as a short program. In any case, the event will run from February 13, 2025, through to January 4, 2026.
The exhibition Picasso: Art in Motion will plunge visitors into the eclectic and revolutionary work of the Spanish artist, exploring his many facets, from Cubism to his theatrical creations. Through monumental projections and digital scenography, this retrospective will highlight the constant evolution of his art and its major influence on the 20th century.
At the same time, Le Douanier Rousseau: au pays des rêves will offer an immersion into the dreamlike, poetic world of this pioneer of naive art. The exhibition will showcase his unique style, free from academic conventions, through immersive projections that will bring his emblematic works to life.
All in all, two wonderful worlds will meet next year, and it’s a cultural event not to be missed!
