When people talk about the La Défense district, nature is the last thing that comes to mind. Yet, in 2028, the entire concrete esplanade will be transformed into a massive five-hectare garden. The La Défense district will thus become the world’s first post-carbon business district in Paris. See you in 2028 to enjoy it!
Goodbye to the concrete of the La Défense Esplanade and hello to the 5-hectare park
In 2028, we’ll finally be able to say goodbye to the concrete slabs of the La Défense esplanade. Far too barren, this square will in fact be transformed into a veritable 5-hectare Central Park. You’ll be able to stroll along more than 600 meters of green space.
And everything has been designed to turn this place into a true hub of life! You’ll be able to play sports outdoors thanks to the various sports facilities, let your children have fun on the playgrounds, and , of course, take a stroll along the tree-lined paths. The tree species have all been selected for their high resistance to high temperatures.

The park will feature six ponds, which should provide plenty of cool relief on hot days. The parkwill connect the neighborhoods and cities of Puteaux and Courbevoie and will stretch from the Fontaine Agam to the Takis Pond.
Although construction has already begun as early as 2025, we’ll have to be patient since the park isn’t scheduled to open until… 2028!
