If you’re not lucky enough to have a car, or if you’re simply staying in Paris this summer, there’s one event you don’t want to miss: Paris-Plage. The banks of the Seine will, as every year, be reinvested as a free beach! But the best part is, this year, Brazil is in the spotlight. So you can travel without leaving the capital!
Paris-Plage on Brazilian time
This year, Paris-Plage is transformed into a real seaside resort, but with a Brazilian twist! To mark the cultural season, which this year brings together France and Brazil, enjoy a unique season on the banks of the Seine. You’ll be able to enjoy a 130 m stretch of real sand between the Pont au Change and the Pont-Neuf, free of charge all summer long from July 5.
Throughout the summer season, you can look forward to a wide range of activities , including live concerts by batucadas (Brazilian percussionists),open-air film screenings, Brazilian food stalls and a beach volleyball area. The latter will be set up on the fully-vegetated forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville, from July 12. Three courts where you can play against your friends for free!
A beach… and a splash in the Seine
Yes, the big news this year is that, in addition to sunbathing on the beach, you’ll be able to take a dip in the Seine from July 5. Three swimming zones will be set up at Bras Marie, Port de Grenelle and Bercy. Flags of three different colors will indicate water quality on a daily basis, so you’ll know whether you can swim or not.
