For most of you, the vacations are over, but that’s no reason not to think about your next getaway! And that’s just as well, because the area around Paris is perfect for seeing the country:centuries-old villages, little-known towns and secret gardens… In fact, we’re taking you to the Yvelines to discover a huge park that nobody talks about: the Parc Départemental du Peuple de l’Herbe. Over 100 hectares of nature and change of scenery!

But why isn’t anyone talking about the Parc Départemental du Peuple de l’Herbe? This immense green space located in Carrières-sous-Poissy in the Yvelines department is a veritable Garden of Eden.
And that’s no mean feat, since it has been awarded the “Refuge LPO” label. This XXL park, created in 2016, is home to 150 animal species and over 200 protected plant species, including plants selected to naturally clean up soil pollution. All this thrives year-round, much to the delight of walkers who enjoy discovering this verdant area through the seasons. Its two artificial ponds offer a soothing, bucolic landscape.
The Parc de l’Herbe was created as a genuine recreational area on the banks of the Seine. Entirely open to the river, you can stroll as you please along a variety of itineraries: a 500 km loop for cycling, a sports trail for training, a “historical” trail to understand the importance of the river, etc… In fine weather, you can even enjoy a picnic or a game of basketball or pétanque! You’ll really connect with nature!
You can also observe the insects that inhabit our gardens and forests in a house dedicated entirely to them. This 800 m² space allows you to observe a whole host of species and understand them better. You can also admire butterflies in a magnificent aviary. An educational and, it has to be said, magical spectacle. Throughout the year, exhibitions and events are organized to enable you to talk to real insect enthusiasts…
