The Paralympic Games will set Paris alight from August 28 to September 8! On August 28, the opening ceremony will be in full swing! A ceremony that promises to be very different from the previous one olympic Games opening ceremony… Here’s everything you need to know!
Paralympic Games opening ceremony to be held at Place de la Concorde
No, the opening ceremony will not take place on the Seine, like the Olympic Games, but rather at the place de la Concorde. From the Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde, 4,400 athletes from all over the world will be parading their country’s colors. They’ll be marching right up close to the public on the most beautiful avenue in the world – quite a symbol!
Four stages will be added in the four corners of the square, so you won’t miss a moment of the show. From the decor to the scenography, everything will be reminiscent of the Paralympic Games. Concorde was chosen for its philosophical, literary and cultural heritage, which has spanned time since the Age of Enlightenment.
A total of 65,000 spectators are expected to attend this memorable show! Half of the seats, close to the Concorde, will be ticketed. On the Champs Élysées side, 30,000 seats will be totally free, allowing everyone to admire the parade of nations!
