Can’t think of anywhere to go this summer from Paris? We’ve come up with an absolutely idyllic spot just a train ride from Paris: the Glénan Islands. A picture-postcard landscape, turquoise waters and miles of white sandy beaches. An unspoilt place that’ll make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean (minus the heat – you can’t have everything, either). Get your bathing suit and sun cream ready!
The Glénan Islands: a heavenly archipelago within easy reach of Paris

Just a few hours from Paris lies a natural gem that few people know about. The Glénan Islands form an absolutely idyllic archipelago. Located just ten kilometers from the mainland, this group of 22 islands and islets will give you a complete change of scenery.

Between the white sandbanks and emerald green water, you’ll find it hard to believe you’re still in France. Cruises are often organized to explore the area for a day. You can, for example, discover the island of Saint-Nicolas on a free stopover. This island offers an absolutely magnificent view of the entire archipelago. You’ll discover Maldivian-style white sand and naturally transparent water. At low tide, you can cross a huge sandbank to reach the island of Bananec on foot. Just magical!

If you can, we recommend a stopover on the island of Loc’h, the largest in the archipelago. Once again, the water is crystal-clear, but expect a cool swim. In summer, the average water temperature here is around 15°C! Not enough to discourage locals and tourists alike, who have a field day. And with the current heatwave, it’s certainly refreshing!

In short, a dream getaway close to the capital for a weekend this summer!
