As summer approaches, one of the most original events returns to the canals of the Île-de-France region. Canal en pagaies officially kicks off the new edition of L’Été du Canal on June 27. The concept is simple and attracts more and more curious visitors every year. Participants will embark on a grand descent of the Ourcq Canal for about 10 kilometers, from Sevran to Pantin, aboard a kayak, canoe, or even a paddleboard.
An unusual canal crossing
A highlight of the Parisian summer, this crossing will mark the launch of the festival that brings the canals of northeast Paris to life for several weeks. In a friendly atmosphere, the event will also feature artistic and musical performances along the entire route. Musicians will perform directly from the boats, while the arrival in Pantin will be accompanied by festivities as part of the “Pantin sur Mer” event.
Open to everyone, the route will also offer a unique way to explore the Seine-Saint-Denis region, passing through several towns and following the canal’s newly renovated banks.

Canal en pagaies will thus kick off the Été du Canal, which will take place from June 27 to August 9, 2026. During this period, the banks of the Ourcq Canal, the Saint-Denis Canal, and the Bassin de la Villette will become a vast recreational area featuring cruises, concerts, walks, and water activities.
With its accessible route, festive atmosphere, and unique setting, Canal en pagaies stands out as one of the most unusual events of the Parisian summer. A great way to paddle in the sun, discover the canals in a new light, and kick off the summer season on the water.
