150 years of the Palais Garnier: an unmissable program
This year, the Palais Garnier celebrates its 150th anniversary! With over a million visitors from all over the world every year, the Palais Garnier continues to fascinate. And this year, a special program is planned to celebrate 150 years of history, dance, song, spectacle and dreams!
In detail, an anniversary gala will be held on January 24. It will be inspired by the Opéra’s inaugural gala on January 5, 1875. Musicians, star dancers and artists from the Opéra national de Paris will be on hand for what promises to be a memorable evening. If tickets are unfortunately already sold out, don’t panic: the evening will be broadcast on France 5 that very evening.
From October 14, 2025 to February 15, 2026, come and admire an exhibition on the significance of the theater over the years since its inauguration. Created in partnership with the BnF, you’ll learn all about this edifice whose impact has transcended borders and social classes. The exhibition is free of charge for children under 12, and can be viewed as part of the regular tour of the Palais.
A special guided tour celebrating 150 years of the Palais Garnier will also be offered. Expect to pay between 10 and 23 euros for an original tour of the Opéra!
Finally, mystery artists will be in residence every month throughout the year. The identities of these twelve personalities will be revealed month by month. Their mission? During their month of residency, to create a unique work of art related to the site. This work will then be auctioned off at the beginning of 2026.
