Among all the Italian addresses to be found in Paris, there’s one that caught our eye: Chez Bartolo! An authentic Neapolitan pizzeria, opened in 1950 in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Chez Bartolo: the oldest pizzeria in Paris
Just a stone’s throw from chic Saint-Germain-des-Prés, this Neapolitan pizzeria opened in 1950 and is a veritable institution. In this temple of taste, pizzas are cooked over a wood fire, to develop the authentic taste of the dough. The dough is matured for 4 to 6 days, to reveal all its aromas. 75 years ago, this small family-run restaurant was an exception in the Parisian landscape, which was unaccustomed to such an establishment. Yet, thanks to the quality of its products and the flavor of its recipes, success was almost immediate!
As for the pizza, you’ll be carried away by the texture of the dough, perfectly cooked and with a slight smoky taste. Most of the ingredients come from Italy, and it shows: the basil tomato sauce is a real treat, the mozzarella melts in your mouth and the ham is top quality! If the Margherita of the house puts everyone in agreement, we recommend the San Daniele: Pomodoro, fior di latte and above all a chiffonade of absolutely incredible 30-month San Daniele ham, which will transport your taste buds to transalpine country.
Of course, the restaurant doesn’t just offer pizzas: pastas, antipasti to share, gnocchi, creamy risotto… but also the must-have desserts of Italian cuisine: panna cotta, homemade tiramisu… So many reasons to come back and sample the entire menu!
