We’ve all found one at the bottom of a pocket, in an old wallet, or wedged between two cards. These little cardboard metro tickets that have been with us for years are now in their final months. Since they went out of production, the Navigo Easy pass and mobile tickets have gradually become part of our daily lives. But if you still have a few unused tickets at home, don’t throw them away just yet. They can still be used, as long as the expiration dates are observed.
How long can you still use your old metro tickets?
Just because they’re no longer sold doesn’t mean the old tickets have lost all their value! The cardboard t+ tickets remain valid on the metro through December 14, 2026. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy the last few trips you’ve already paid for, without having to buy new tickets.
This option isn’t limited to travel within Paris! You can still use these tickets on metro lines, even when they go beyond the city limits of Paris. However, the old t+ tickets won’t work for the RER or trains outside the city limits.
As for buses and trams, the paper tickets are no longer valid. However, Origin-Destination tickets can still be used to travel to train stations outside Paris. Their validity depends on the route indicated on the ticket, and they, too, are valid until December 14, 2026.

And for any remaining tickets, head to the ticket window!
There’s no need to make extra trips just to use up your ticket booklets. Île-de-France Mobilités allows you to exchange them until January 14, 2027—one month after their expiration date.
You’ll need to go to an RATP or SNCF ticket window with your old tickets and a €2 Navigo Easy pass. The agent will transfer their value in the form of digital tickets directly to the pass.
Please note: Ticket exchanges are limited to five tickets per person per day. If you exceed this limit, you’ll need to come back another day to exchange the remaining tickets. It’s not possible to request a refund instead of having the amount loaded onto your Navigo Easy pass.
So the old tickets still have a few weeks left. After December 14, there will be one month left to exchange them before they disappear for good from the Île-de-France transit network.
