Not just anyone can be a luxury hotel! This year, three new Parisian luxury hotels have joined the very exclusive circle of France’s most prestigious establishments: the Bulgari Hotel Paris, theCheval Blanc Paris, andtheFouquet’s Hotel. In total, there are now 33 establishments across France showcasing French excellence. And as you’ll see, just like with Michelin stars, several criteria must be met to earn this coveted title!
Three new luxury hotels in Paris
To award the famous “P” for Palace, Atout France must verify the eligibility criteria for each establishment, namely:
- The establishment must be rated 5 stars
- It must have been in operation for at least 24 months
Once these criteria are met, the candidate is put under the microscope. And every detail counts: the location, the design, the history of the place, the team and its professionalism, the presence or absence of a gourmet restaurant, environmental policies, the identity of the place… The establishment in the running must be located near an exceptional site such as a listed site, a protected area, etc.

All of this and much more is taken into account during the final evaluation. It’s a demanding distinction, but one that’s well worth it since it lasts three years and can be renewed.
The three newly selected Parisian establishments are no strangers to the world of luxury and hospitality. Each has its own identity, personality, and unique features , and boasts an exceptional setting, a unique history, and impeccable quality. While these establishments are delighted with their new title, two Parisian hotels lost this designation this year: thePark Hyatt Paris-Vendôme and theMandarin Oriental Paris.
