One of the capital’s many free museums stands out from the rest: the Musée de la Vie Romantique. A dazzling place, with a very hushed atmosphere, particularly appreciated in fine weather. In its open-air tea room, you can enjoy the scent of roses and the bucolic ambience of the place as soon as spring arrives. The former home of painter Ary Scheffern, it has always been a regular haunt of the Parisian elite: from George Sand to Delacroix to Chopin… Its enchanting, restful setting makes it one of Parisians’ most popular museums. But since September 14, 2024, the museum has been closed for major renovations. On February 14, the museum will finally reopen its doors to visitors. And it promises to be even more fabulous!
A completely renovated museum after a two-year wait

Supported by the City of Paris, the works, with a total budget of 3.8 million euros, were aimed not only at completely renovating the pavilion, but also at improving the visitor experience, particularly for the permanent collections... Signage was completely redesigned, both inside and outside the museum, to improve visitor flow. What’s more, accessibility for people with reduced mobility has been completely rethought!
On the permanent tour, the painter Ary Scheffer, an emblematic figure on the premises, will have a very special place. You’ll understand his role in the major themes of Romanticism, which he developed with the help of many artists of the time. More immersive, the tour will include literary works and period music to recreate the unique atmosphere of this beautiful bourgeois building.

The titanic works have enabled us to recreate an atmosphere much more faithful to that of an artist’s home of the period, while preserving the spirit of the museum. You’ll discover a magnificently restored façade, just as it was in 1830. An elegant and refined place, which you can discover on February 14!
By the way, if you love Bridgerton, we recommend that you experience the Candlelight concerts at least once. A wonderful musical experience not to be missed at the end of the year!
