Inaugurated in 1924 in the form of an Italian-style theater, it has welcomed the greatest music-hall stars, including France’s most famous showgirl: Mistinguett. Mistinguett performed here for 10 years, putting stars in the eyes of every audience member. A legendary venue soon to be reopened at the Moulin Rouge

Who’d have thought Paris’s oldest cabaret still had secrets? Last October, the cabaret announced the renovation of a legendary venue: the Salle Mistinguett. Although it welcomed artists, dancers and performers during the 1930s , the hall was transformed into a cinema until the 1980s. It then had several lives until the 1990s. With this brand-new renovation, which will cost several tens of millions of euros, the venue is set to regain its former glory.

But Moulin Rouge patrons can rest assured: you’ll still be able to enter this magical venue during the renovation. It’s an opportunity to discover or rediscover “ça, C’est Paris”, which traces the city’s history from 1900 to the present day.
