Every morning and every evening, the flow of bicycles is in full swing on the capital’s main thoroughfares, so much so that traffic jams even affect bike paths during rush hour. While all major thoroughfares experience high volumes of cyclists to varying degrees, three routes stand out. So, which are the busiest bike paths in Paris?
Which is the most heavily used bike path in Paris?
Very active on this issue, the association Paris en Selle publishes a daily “count” of bicycle traffic in Paris, based on data from the city. This makes it possible to rank the streets, avenues, and boulevards that are the busiest in the capital.
Taking the top spot as the capital’s busiest bike path is Boulevard Sébastopol, which connects Châtelet to Gare de l’Est. With an average of 15,596 daily cyclists recorded in 2025, it is the Parisian route most favored by cyclists. In fact, a record was set on September 18 of last year when the number of cyclists in a single day surpassed 30,000.

Close behind, with an average of 11,395 cyclists per day, is Rue de Rivoli, followed closely by the famous Boulevard Magenta and its narrow bike lanes.
These records, however, are likely to be broken year after year if the trend continues. Between 2020 and 2025, traffic on Paris’s bike network increased by 47% and continues to rise. This goes hand in hand with the infrastructure improvements made by the city: by the end of 2025, Paris had 1,607 kilometers of bike lanes, 32 kilometers more than the previous year.
