As summer sets in, open-air cinemas are springing up all over the capital. Most open-air cinemas have made a comeback for the summer season, with hundreds of Parisians flocking to their screens once the sun has gone down. From the Monnaie de Paris to the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace and the Plaza Athénée, there’s no shortage of summertime 7th art events. But, according to Time Out, one Parisian spot stands out from the rest: Gare aux Docs is, according to the magazine, the most beautiful open-air cinema in Paris.
On the rails of the Petite Ceinture, the REcyclerie teams pull out all the stops every summer for Gare aux Docs. Giant screen, deckchairs and a mouth-watering program of documentaries: these are the hallmarks of the event that makes Paris shine in the rankings. And this year, Gare aux Docs returns for an 8th XXL edition from July 4 to August 30, 2025. In all, 18 free screenings will be held every Friday and Saturday evening.
Otherwise, in the world’s top 3, the winners are the Galileo Open Air Cinema in Cape Town, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona and, in first place, the Westpac Openair in Sydney.
