For all those who love history and immersive experiences, come and immerse yourself in an authentic medieval festival, free of charge and accessible to the whole family. Organized around the Houssoy keep, a listed 14th-century vestige, these Médiévales are one of the most eagerly awaited events of the European Heritage Days! Following in the footsteps of Provins’ famous fêtes, here’s another charming village getting into the spirit!
The Médiévales du Houssoy are back in town!
The Houssoy keep and its surrounding ruins offer a unique opportunity to rediscover medieval times. Restored as a reminder of its role in defending the north of Paris in the time of Charles V, it becomes the center of a convivial and popular festival. For two days, the site is transformed by a lively medieval encampment, an artisans’ market (leather, wood, ceramics, fabric…) and a non-stop entertainment program.
On Saturday evening, in the village church, an opening concert will combine classical music and medieval compositions, followed by a convivial aperitif in the market square. On Sunday afternoon, equestrian jousting and a dressage show will take over, before a medieval lunch at noon (reservations required, via the town hall or the event’s Facebook page).
Visitors will also be able to try their hand at archery and artillery shooting, watch storytellers, discover demonstrations of handicrafts, and take a pony ride in a carefully recreated setting, all in an immersive, family-friendly atmosphere.
