All it takes is a 20-kilometer drive from Paris to travel back several centuries in time. On September 13, the Bois des Templiers in Longjumeau will host the 17th edition of “Les Médiévales,” a major event dedicated to the world of the Middle Ages. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., artisans, knights, birds of prey, and horsemen will take over the grounds, with a program designed for the whole family.
This year’s event will also mark a significant change: after several years of organization by the ALBG association, the City of Longjumeau will take direct charge of the event, in collaboration with several local associations. The concept, however, will remain the same: transforming the Bois des Templiers into a true medieval village for one day.
The 2026 Longjumeau Medieval Festival: falconry, knights, and equestrian shows
Several highlights will punctuate the day. The show *Les Ailes de l’Urga* will feature birds of prey in flight, while *Le Serment des Templiers* will combine stunts, combat, and equestrian displays. Demonstrations of chivalry and various activities inspired by medieval crafts will round out the program.
Visitors will also be able to browse the artisans’ booths set up in the woods and discover various traditional techniques. Period costumes are welcome—whether you come dressed as a knight, a princess, a troubadour, or even a legendary creature.
A medieval family outing near Paris
While admission is free for children under 16, adults will be charged 5 euros, with a special perk this year: each paid ticket entitles the holder to a jar of honey produced in Longjumeau, as the town holds the “City of Honey” designation.
Just like the Médiévales de Provins, this event in Longjumeau ranks among the most unique experiences to be had not far from the capital. Combining historical reenactment with immersive experiences, this outing is sure to delight everyone.
