While a giant theme park will officially open in England in 2031, Universal could also be targeting southern Europe. Port Aventura has been on the American giant’s radar for several years, and could be the first European location to host a Super Nintendo World.
A park dedicated to Mario Bros soon in Europe?
If Osaka and Los Angeles (and soon Singapore) are the only cities in the world to have a Super Nintendo World, the Mario Bros universe could soon be coming to Europe too. The main idea is to set up a new land dedicated to the Italian plumber at the Port Aventura park in Tarragona, Spain. Already a shareholder between 1998 and 2004, Universal could well be making a comeback in Europe, especially since the Spanish park has been put up for sale in 2023.
Although this news is obviously a rumor to be treated with caution, Universal has registered several patents in Spain, most of which relate to attractions. A number of steps have already been taken, suggesting a possible takeover of the park by the group.
Just a 1h45 flight from Paris, it may then be possible to immerse oneself in the world of Mario, and enjoy highly successful attractions such as Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure and Donkey Kong Mine Cart Challenge. To be continued…
