Who says only grown-ups can challenge themselves? This year, little athletes aged 5 to 12 can take part in a marathon specially designed for their age group. The prize? A medal and lots of other surprises. And what’s more? It’s 100% free!
A 100% free marathon for kids
On April 12, the eve of the Paris Marathon, the Maratoons will be held. A 100% free sporting challenge for kids aged 5-12. Four courses, adapted to toddlers’ abilities will be on offer in the 7ᵉ arrondissement of Paris, Place de Fontenoy. In detail, you’ll find:
- The 400 m event at 11 a.m., for 5-6 year-olds
- The 800 m event at 11:30 a.m. for 7-8 year-olds
- 1,200 m event for 9-10 year-olds at 12 noon
- The 1,600 m event for older Marathoonians aged 11-12, at 12:30 p.m.
To take part, all you need is a written and signed parental authorization. Your child does not need a medical certificate to take part in the race. However, it goes without saying that comfortable sportswear is highly recommended.
On the Place de Fontenoy, children will be treated to a real sports village, with a warm-up course to avoid minor and major injuries before taking to the track.
Then, after the effort, comes the comfort! Each participant receives a medal and can enjoy a great champion’s snack. A great time not to be missed!
