Take a prestigious location, a majestic setting and add all the richness of traditional French cuisine, and you’ve got the recipe for Magdalena, the amazing new address in the 8th arrondissement. A gourmet brasserie with an emphasis on the art of entertaining: that’s the promise of this unusual new spot. The best of both worlds, and an experience you’ll want to try as soon as possible!
Magdalena or the art of entertaining and fine dining in the 8th arrondissement
In place of the Café Pouchkine, the tea room that enlivened the Place de la Madeleine for seven years, a beautiful establishment with a red front and gold lettering has taken its place. Magdalena, named in homage to the superb neighbouring monument, has given itself an exceptional location in the heart of the 8th arrondissement. After a warm welcome, it’s time to appreciate its hushed surroundings and, why not, indulge in a glass of champagne at its massive white marble bar.
Once you’re seated at the table, let yourself be guided by the expert advice of the waiters and maître d’, or let your instincts take over. Either way, there are no bad choices at Magdalena. Here, the French art of living is celebrated, as is its gastronomy, with bistro and gastro dishes. After a short introduction (hello truffle croques-monsieur, hello lobster bites), it’s time to open the ball with a fine starter. Onion gratin, crayfish tail gratin, duck foie gras or truffled pâté en croute: there’s plenty to choose from! But our favorite dish is eggs en meurette, with their delicious red wine and bacon sauce.
The credo is quality and exceptional products, such as the king crab salad, the truffle rigatoni or the linguine with half-lobster. And on the main course, bistro cuisine rubs shoulders with that of the palaces, with knife-edge tartare, sea bass fillet, a daring rack of lamb or delicately snacked scallops. Whichever you choose, you’ll need to pair your dish with one of the delicious accompaniments and a sauce, and here too, the taste is on point! Finally, to finish off with a touch of sweetness, take a look at the traditional dessert cart, which is full of surprises!
A fine wine list is also available, as are a number of cocktails. And, as the evening wears on, the atmosphere mellows and a festive mood settles in for an intoxicating end to the evening. We told you, all the ingredients are there!
All that’s left is for you to try it out!
