Less than 30 minutes from Paris, this incredibly peaceful hike is perfect for a spring getaway. Head to Sucy-en-Brie, in Val-de-Marne, where a loop of just over 10 kilometers follows the course of the Morbras, a small, unassuming tributary of the Marne. The route is easily completed in a day and remains one of the most accessible options for treating yourself to a true break in nature.
One of the region’s most peaceful walks is tucked away in Val-de-Marne
Starting from the Sucy-Bonneuil or Saint-Maur train station, you’ll quickly pass through narrow streets lined with millstone houses before reaching the first trails, then the banks of the Morbras. The path then follows this small stream as it winds quietly through woods and open spaces.
Over the course of a few kilometers, the route alternates between urban areas, landscaped parks, and genuine forest trails. The Morbras Departmental Park is one of the highlights of the journey, with its expansive lawns, ancient trees, and wilder spots along the water. As you continue, the hike gradually leads deeper into woody areas, particularly toward the Notre-Dame Forest. The atmosphere then becomes more peaceful, with shaded, quiet trails.

The route also holds a few surprises in terms of heritage. Along the way, you can catch a glimpse of the Château du Grand-Val, now converted into a cultural venue, as well as ancient churches and mills that evoke the area’s rural history.
In terms of accessibility, the elevation gain is minimal and the paths are generally well-maintained. Allow about 2.5 to 3 hours of walking for a classic loop, a little longer if you take the time to stop or take small detours. And this spring, we’re clearly in one of the best times to discover the Morbras. The vegetation is coming back to life, the riverbanks are turning greener, and the light highlights the various landscapes.
Easy to access, varied, and fairly quiet, this hike checks all the boxes for a quick getaway without leaving the Île-de-France region.
