From impressionists to Empress Josephine, slip on your shoes and walk in the footsteps of the great figures who enjoyed the landscape before you.
One of the most beautiful walks in the Paris region
With the warm weather just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what we’ll be doing once the sun is out. A small picnic in one of France’s most picturesque of France’s most picturesque villages or a festive open air all the possibilities will soon be open to us as temperatures permit. Among these activities, a good hike in the forest is just the thing. And just in time, we’ve come up with a delightful itinerary for you in the west of Paris. Follow the guide as we take you in the footsteps of Empress Josephine and the Impressionists.
Orchestrated around the charming town of Rueil-Malmaison, the tour departs from the town’s railway station. The program for this picturesque walk takes you past the Parc des Impressionnistes on the banks of the Seine, the Maison Fournaise and the Château de la Petite Malmaison, before arriving at the Gallicourts orchards, where you’ll be treated to a panoramic view of Paris and La Défense. Along the way, you’ll come across small streams, historic monuments and castles, as well as little stores and restaurants where you can enjoy a well-earned break.
Put on your walking shoes and enjoy this beautiful stroll just a stone’s throw from Paris. Although this itinerary is not overly demanding (143 meters of positive ascent), make sure you’re well equipped to cover the entire 14-kilometer route without a hitch.
