Offered by Île-de-France Mobilités, this service is for planned carpooling. The idea is simple: Navigo subscribers can make up to two carpool trips per day at no extra cost, in addition to their usual transportation.
In practical terms, all you have to do is use the Covoit IDFM app, enter your journey details, and choose an available carpool. Passengers do not have to pay anything for these two daily journeys, provided they have a monthly, annual, or Imagine R Navigo pass.
This scheme has been designed to facilitate travel in less well-served areas or for commutes that require several connections. Carpooling can thus complement a journey by public transport, particularly to reach a train station, bus stop, or remote business park.

Another advantage is that return assistance is provided. If a carpool is canceled at the last minute, a taxi or private hire vehicle can be arranged to take the passenger home at no extra cost. The service is available throughout the Île-de-France region and operates flexibly. It is possible to plan a trip in advance or search for a carpool up to a few minutes before departure. Profiles are verified and exchanges take place via secure messaging to ensure a minimum level of trust between drivers and passengers.
For drivers, the system also reduces car-related costs. According to Île-de-France Mobilités, a driver can save up to €200 per month by sharing their journeys. The principle remains voluntary and adaptable, with everyone able to offer journeys according to their habits and itinerary.
Despite these advantages, the service is still little known to many Navigo subscribers. Many continue to use only public transportation, unaware that they can supplement their journeys with free carpooling.
