With an average of 12 million passengers passing through the Paris transport network every day, there are some quiet stations that escape the hustle and bustle. Far from the big hubs like Châtelet or Gare du Nord, some stops don’t even see more than a thousand passengers a day. But which station do you think is the least busy on all lines?
And the quietest station on the Paris metro is…
While we were recently telling you about the longest transfer on the Paris metro, today we’re taking a look at another unusual piece of knowledge about the Paris transport network. It’s easy to see the badmouths pointing the finger at lines 3bis and 7bis, but that’s not the case! The Paris metro’s least-frequented station is actually on line 10! It’s the Église d’Auteuil stop in the 16th arrondissement. With 500 passengers a day, it’s officially the quietest station on the network. This represents some 180,000 passengers passing through each year. To put this figure into perspective, Gare du Nord station is used by almost 160,000 people… every day! Logically, it’s the busiest station in the network.
Named for its direct proximity to the eponymous church, it has a special feature that partly explains its low ridership. Located on the “loop” of line 10, it has just one platform and is only used by passengers heading for Boulogne.
Just one of the many curiosities that make up the capital. We also remember the street with the shortest name, as well as the one with the longest.
