This winter, Paris marks a milestone in the career of an artist who is well known… but not for his hits. Kid Cudi, the Ohio-born rapper famous for his songs that have marked an entire generation, is unveiling another facet of his creativity at Galerie Ruttkowski;68 in the Marais district.
Kid Cudi’s paintings on show in Paris for the first time
Entitled Echoes of the Past, this is Kid Cudi’s very first solo show in Paris. It will run until March 1, 2026, opening to the public in the early evening of January 30 for a vernissage open to all. Free to the public, the exhibition features a series of paintings exploring a lesser-known dimension of the artist.
While the rapper has built his reputation around music since his early days, his interest in painting is more recent. His first canvas dates back just over a year, and it opened up a new avenue in his career as an artist. In the works presented in Paris, Kid Cudi features Max, a visual alter ego who recurs regularly in his canvases.
For visitors, this exhibition is an opportunity to discover another facet of an artist often associated with his musical successes. A soundtrack imagined by the artist will accompany the experience, to make it even more immersive.
Whether you’re a long-time fan or simply curious about contemporary art, Echoes of the Past is one of the most original free exhibitions to be seen in Paris at the start of the year.
