The promotion of our rich gastronomic heritage is now centre stage. And with good reason: recently, the jury of the Les Quintessances culinary competition selected 54 candidates. In the running? Caterers, wine merchants, food artisans and delicatessens. What are the criteria for becoming an ambassador for good eating? Originality, locality, terroir, but also perseverance in creating social links. Of the 15 artisans finally nominated, 5 stood out and 2 received the jury’s “coup de coeur”. 2 grocery stores in the Top of France’s best delicatessens!
On the 2nd step of the podium, we find the grocery store Rose & Perle! Nestled in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, Rose & Perle is probably the smallest delicatessen in France, measuring just 6.5 m2. But size isn’t everything! In this small, ultra-well-optimized space, food lovers can find seafood products such as caviar and top-flight salmon. Not to mention a fine selection of wines to match.
In the ranking of France’s best delicatessens, we also find La Maison de l’Indonésie, in 5th place. And this delicatessen in the 14th arrondissement did not disappoint, as it received one of the two “coup de coeur du jury” awards! What won over the experts? A varied offering that promises a cultural escape. Fair-trade products, direct from local Indonesian producers, such as chocolate, coffee and spices, to name but a few.
