Just a few kilometers from Paris, a unique experience lets you travel back in time while rediscovering the landscapes that inspired the greatest painters. The Impressionists’ Train winds through the Seine Valley, inviting you on a journey that blends railway heritage with art history.
The Impressionists’ Train is back in service
Every spring, it marks its return as a little ritual for lovers of cultural getaways. The Impressionists’ Train takes you directly from Gare du Nord to Auvers-sur-Oise , with no transfers and no intermediate stops. In 2026, this special service runs on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from April 4 to November 1, with a morning departure and a return trip in the late afternoon.
For the outbound trip, we board at Paris-Nord at 9:38 a.m., and less than an hour later, we arrive in Auvers-sur-Oise. With a return scheduled for 6:15 p.m., this nonstop journey allows us to enjoy a full day in the charming village and explore it at our leisure.

The village, associated with the history of Impressionism and especially with Vincent van Gogh’s final months, attracts visitors every year who come to stroll through the fields, past the church painted by the artist, the Auberge Ravoux, and Dr. Gachet’s house. From the station, you can reach the town center and all these gems in about ten minutes on foot. While many sites in the area are linked to Van Gogh, you can also visit the Château d’Auvers, Daubigny’s House-Studio, or the Absinthe Museum.
Another important detail: this direct train remains particularly budget-friendly. To treat yourself to this little round-trip to Impressionist country, all you need to do is pay €5.10—or simply have a Navigo pass!
With this seasonal train, Auvers-sur-Oise once again becomes the obvious choice for a spring getaway. No complicated routes, no transfers to worry about—just a direct line between Paris and one of the most inspiring villages in the area.
