Every year, shooting stars light up our sky with thousands of twinkling lights. A magnificent spectacle, but also a very fleeting one. This year, the event is scheduled for this week, with a peak expected on the night of April 22–23.
A meteor shower in Paris
This week is the perfect time to make a wish. A magnificent meteor shower is currently visible in the sky, but it will be most spectacular during the night of April 22–23.

You can expect to see between 10 and 20 shooting stars per hour, streaking across the sky at a speed of 50 km per second. And if you’re a night owl, they should be most visible around 2 a.m.
And for those who won’t be lucky enough to see them this time, another meteor shower called the Perseids should be visible in August!
How to watch the shooting stars?
To get the best view, there’s no secret: you need to avoid all light pollution. Steer clear of areas lit by streetlights and look toward the south, where they’ll be most intense! Unlike other astronomical phenomena, you won’t need any equipment to observe them : just let your eyes adjust to the darkness, and enjoy the show.
