With its stars on the ceiling, its Art Deco façade, and its premieres that regularly draw crowds to the Grands Boulevards, the Grand Rex is one of the world’s most iconic movie theaters. What if we told you that you’ll soon be able to take a piece of it home with you? To mark the renovation of its Theater 7, the cinema is selling some of its old seats on Wednesday, July 9, starting at 10 a.m.
Blue seats, armrests, the REX logo embroidered on some seatbacks… For movie lovers, it doesn’t get much more symbolic than this. The Grand Rex isn’t just selling used furniture: it’s offering its audience the chance to take home a piece of its history—the very seats where thousands of visitors have settled in to watch a movie, attend a special screening, or enjoy a truly memorable evening.
A Special Sale of Vintage Seats from the Grand Rex

Three models will be available at this sale. The solid blue seat will be priced at €30, the blue seat with the embroidered REX logo at €40, and the blue “duo” seat with the embroidered REX logo at €60 . A fairly affordable price range for an item steeped in history.
The sale coincides with the renovation of Theater 7, which will feature new equipment and enhanced comfort. The Grand Rex is thus continuing the gradual modernization of its spaces, following, for example, the opening of its Infinite theater a few years ago .
As for the sale, the seats will be sold on-site, while supplies last, on a first-come, first-served basis. Pickup will take place directly at the entrance on Rue Poissonnière. Suffice it to say that collectors, movie buffs, and the simply curious would be wise not to arrive too late.
