If you are planning to take the train soon, please note that Gare de Lyon is planning to suspend all traffic. From April 30 to May 3, one of Paris’s largest train stations will not be running any trains. The reason: major works essential to the proper functioning of the station. This suspension of rail traffic is unfortunate for many users, as it will coincide with May Day…
At the end of April, no trains will be running at Gare de Lyon
If you were planning to take the train during the long weekend of May 1, you may need to rethink your plans… From April 30 to May 3, no trains will be running at Gare de Lyon. This is an exceptional and unprecedented interruption due to major work on the signal boxes. These are essential to the proper functioning of the network and therefore require the full attention of technicians.
Gare de Lyon closed… but trains will run from other stations in Paris
This is very bad news for all travelers who were planning to head south for the long weekend. However, it’s important to note that all other stations will be operating as usual during this period. According to the SNCF, “TGV Inoui and TGV Lyria services will be modified from Thursday at 8:30 p.m. until Sunday at 2 p.m.” The company assures that 55% of the TGVs that usually run from Gare de Lyon will still be running… but they will depart from other Parisian stations.
For example , you can travel to Marseille or Toulouse from Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy station. Please note that journeys may take longer than usual.
