As you’ve no doubt noticed, the rain has returned. But while the rain is certainly here, there is currently no risk of flooding… However, according to a study published on June 1 by Paris Région, 8% of the Île-de-France population lives in areas at high risk of flooding. This represents approximately 550,000 homes and more than one million people at risk…
540 municipalities in Île-de-France are exposed to a significant risk of flooding
According to the Paris Region study, 70% of Paris and its inner suburbs are affected by flooding. While the 1910 flood remains the most severe on record, the 2016 flood clearly demonstrated the region’s vulnerability to such events.

Specifically, we know that the 15th arrondissement is the most affected in the capital, with no fewer than 70,000 people living in these flood-prone areas. In Île-de-France, more than 46% of municipalities are at risk. This is particularly the case for Alfortville (Val-de-Marne), Asnières-sur-Seine, Gennevilliers, Colombes, and Créteil.
And as if that weren’t grim enough, 100,000 homes have been built in areas at high risk of flooding… We’re keeping our fingers crossed that such a disaster doesn’t happen!
