3 days of a giant banquet to beat the world record for aligot-saucisse: that’s the credo of Aligofest, a festival of gourmet delights planned for the end of the year. Just a few hours from the capital by train, this is an event not to be missed if you love this comforting and generous dish.
Aligofest: a giant all-you-can-eat aligot-saucisse festival to beat a world record!
Thousands of guests, endless tables, “aligot filant”, grilled sausages, music, rugby… and one crazy goal: to beat the world record for aligot-saucisse served. From November 14 to 16, Toulouse plays host to Aligofest, an XXL festival that combines popular gastronomy, a festive atmosphere and a collective challenge.
Inspired by Germany’s Oktoberfest, Aligofest is a new popular festival in Toulouse that celebrates a monument of southern French gastronomy: aligot-saucisse. But here, small portions are out of the question. For three days, the event offers an all-you-can-eat buffet, accompanied by brass bands, entertainment, sports broadcasts and a world record in its sights. Indeed, the festival’s ambition is to set the world record for the largest quantity of aligot-saucisse served in a single weekend. Each guest becomes a player in the challenge: each portion served is counted in real time on giant screens.
It’s a great opportunity to fill your belly with this legendary Aveyron recipe. But Aligofest isn’t just about sausages, mashed potatoes and cheese. This very special weekend will also feature DJ sets, brass bands, a giant tombola and musical entertainment. All that’s left to do is wait patiently for this great event to return after the summer.
