La Seine, La Seine: this is the title of the latest exhibition to be held at the Quai de la Photo a new atypical cultural venue in the heart of Paris. For its second summer on the banks of the Seine, the floating art center honors the river on which it is based. Divided into two parts, this beautiful Tribute to the river traces its evolution and the development of its banks over time. Come and discover one of the highlights of the Parisian cultural summer.
The Seine in the spotlight at Quai de la Photo’s new exhibition
Moored and open to the public since last June, the Quai de la Photo, an unusual exhibition space on a barge, will once again set the pace for cultural events in the city. After a fine retrospective dedicated to Martin Parr and a plunge dive into the treasures of AFP’s black-and-white archives the new art center unveils a new stage in its Program, focusing on the Paris river.
Orchestrated in two parts, this new exhibition takes us on a“social and historical tour of the docks.” Rive droite Rive gauche takes you on a journey through time, with 80 photographs retracing the river’s history from the 19th century to the 1960s. Thanks to pictures taken by the Roger Viollet agency and by such great names as Eugène Atget, Janine Nièpce and Jacques Boyer, you’ll discover a never-before-seen vision of the Seine. Part 2, which can be seen outside the barge, includes La Source, by Frédéric Stucin, “a real Sequanian voyage, between the real and the imaginary, with the riverbank inhabitants as the common thread
All in all, it’s the summer exhibition not to be missed, so we’ll see you there!
