Last August, Disneyland Paris officially announced the construction of its brand-new area, entirely dedicated to The Lion King. Yes, France’s favorite Disney movie will soon have its own roaring land dedicated to Simba, Mufasa, Rafiki, Timon, Pumba and Zazu, and we know more.
A Simba attraction with several waterfalls, including one 16 metres high
From now on, there’s no need to speak in the conditional tense. The future area dedicated to the Lion King will indeed see the light of day, and work will begin in autumn 2025. The promise? An attraction in the form of a water ride, like the Snow Queen, soon to be unveiled at the heart of the World of Frozen land. But rest assured, the two attractions will look nothing alike. At least, that’s what Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris, says. Interviewed by Le Point, she made a point of distinguishing between the two new water attractions. According to her, the attraction dedicated to Simba will be “more focused on thrills, with several waterfalls, including a 16-metre drop!” While this attraction will be designed to operate year-round, it promises to be refreshing in hot weather. Natacha Rafalski also took the opportunity to give more information about the land dedicated to The Lion King. According to her, this new zone will offer Disneyland Paris visitors a real immersion in the savannah. But it’s still time to think. Right now, the teams are thinking about the look of the Lion King characters, and how they will be integrated into the land’s décor.
This is the story of the life, at last, of The Lion King kingdom at Disneyland Paris.
On Saturday, April 12, Disneyland Paris shared previously unpublished images of the future XXL Land dedicated to The Lion King. They show a sketch of the star attraction, which will combine aquatic sensations with state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics® technology. So, are you ready to enter the heart of the Land of the Lions, to the rhythm of the mythical songs from the 1994 animated masterpiece? Patience is still required, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
