As you know, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for many of us to make ends meet as the end of the month approaches… So to make shopping easier for French consumers, some supermarket chains are offering payment plans! How does it work? Buy now, pay later with deferred checks… Let us explain!
Deferred payment at supermarkets: how does it work?
Super U, Auchan, Leclerc, Carrefour…several supermarket chains now offer deferred payment checks. How does it work? You pay for your regular groceries with a check, and the amount will be debited later. To take advantage of this, simply ask at the register and bring your ID before submitting the check.
This payment method allows for greater financial flexibility, but it also has its limitations and risks… If you forget to pay by the agreed-upon date and don’t have the necessary funds, you risk jeopardizing your finances by falling into a bank overdraft… You may then be charged additional fees .
The risk of excessive debt is very real: if you still want to use this option, experts recommend not doing so routinely to avoid unpleasant surprises.
